Experience:I am a qualified teacher and have also been a Principal. I have more than 20 years of experience in teaching Primary school children from Reception to Year 6. I am patient and ensure that my lessons are always enjoyable, and children feel confident and engaged. I have different ways of explaining concepts, and children often say things like "It's so much easier the way you have explained it" - particularly in maths.
I taught at one of the best schools in London, Wetherby School, which was attended by Princes William and Harry when they were young boys. Therefore, I have high expectations of all children I work with and support them in achieving the best results they are capable of.
I have also worked at two different International Schools, one in Cyprus and the other in Zagreb, Croatia, where I was the Principal. I am well aware of the strengths and weaknesses of International Schools and understand the challenges that children at these schools can face.
Approach:My approach to tutoring is always to assess a child's current understanding and knowledge in a particular area. That is the starting point and we build from there. There is no child that has not made significant progress after working with me, and I am confident that I can help any child I work with to achieve better results.
I am patient and pay a great deal of attention to building a child's inner confidence. I do this by observing how they see themselves as a learner and helping them improve on this where needed. I use videos to support my teaching and guide children through new concepts, allowing them to build their confidence before completing tasks independently.
