Experience:I am an experienced art educator with seven years of teaching under my belt. I began my career after earning a four-year art degree from the University of Reading in 2016. Following this, I completed my Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from University College London (UCL) in 2018, which equipped me with a strong foundation in pedagogy and classroom management.
For six years, I worked in a secondary school in the UK as the Lead Teacher of Art. During this time, I guided students through GCSE and A-Level Art, achieving consistently high exam results. My role involved planning and delivering lessons that encouraged creativity while building technical skills. I also developed students' portfolios for coursework, which often reflected originality and artistic growth. Currently, I am based in Dubai, where I have taken full responsibility for managing the Art department at my current school. This role has enhanced my leadership abilities, as I oversee curriculum planning, exhibitions, and department performance while ensuring students reach their creative potential.
Approach:I take a student-centered approach, tailoring lessons to suit individual strengths and learning styles. Whether my students are beginners or advanced artists, I create an engaging and supportive environment that fosters both creativity and skill development. I emphasize mastering the fundamentals—such as drawing, painting, and three-dimensional work—while encouraging experimentation with different media and techniques.
My specialism is in drawing and painting, and I am skilled in both realistic and abstract work. I guide students in mastering proportion, shading, colour theory, and composition. However, I also encourage experimentation with more expressive and abstract approaches, allowing students to develop their unique artistic voice.
With extensive experience teaching GCSE and A-Level Art and a proven record of excellent results, I am well-prepared to help students excel. Specializing in both realistic and abstract drawing and painting, I offer personalized guidance for exam prep, portfolio development, or skill improvement.
