Experience:I have been tutoring and teaching for 4 years. I have been a tutor to university students and I have been teaching History and Geography for 4 years. I teach from a skills platform, therefore, I focus on the exam skills needed to achieve outstanding results. Apart from the skills, I aim to address conceptual misunderstandings the students might have. Therefore it is practical teaching, and very activity-based in how I teach. I have a Bachelor of Social Science Honours degree, and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education passed at Cum Lande. My strengths are listening to my students, and using practical examples to make them understand the concepts. I also listen to their understanding, for when you can voice your understanding, it will show me whether you fully understand a concept or topic.
Approach:The lessons are needs-based, so I have to assess the student's needs and then tail lessons to that need. For example, if the student has difficulty understanding a topic, I will focus on the topic and the content. If the student has a hard time with writing in History, I will create writing activities to help them with that. A personal approach is key, my tutoring style is unique for every student as not every student is the same.
