Louai Alshannan

A 3D printing professional with hands-on experience has set out to help industry professionals and hobbyists kickstart their 3D printing journey, make the most of their machines, and answer all their questions.

Qualification:

3D Printing Engineer

Experience:

I have been a 3D printing engineer for over 5 years, with a professional, practical approach, hands-on experience, and a ton of trial and error. I have learned a lot, and I'm happy to pass on the knowledge I possess to 3D printing hobbyists and professionals.

During my professional career, I have conducted countless training sessions for industry professionals, artists, engineers, hobbyists, and children.

My expertise spans across multiple AM technologies, including FDM, LCD, and SLA. Understanding the pros and cons of each technology and how they operate is a decisive factor in helping to choose the suitable technology and printing material.

Approach:

I have a set curriculum, however, I like to go with a "flexible" approach with which I will cover the basics and all that's needed to be taught, yet be completely open to questions and discussions, a more interactive approach to keep the trainee engaged and help them learn all they need to learn.

The session goes through 3D printing's ecosystem, starting from:
- Hardware: how the machine operates, what are its capabilities, how to prepare for printing, what the interface is about, and what to expect
- Material: types of 3D printing material, which are suitable for which purpose, and how they should be printed
- Software: "Slicing", converting your 3D models to a printable format, learn about the slicer and its settings, make the best of your prints, avoid quality issues, and increase your part strength
- Design: learn which designs are conducive for 3D printing, the limits and advantages of Design for Additive Manufacturing
