Post RequirementMSc. Mathematics
The versatile postgraduate in Mathematics, with nearly a decade of experience in teaching mathematics, comes from a multi-disciplinary background. They possess strong analytical, creative, innovative, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities. Equipped with smart and unique teaching techniques, they have excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills. As a passionate and empathetic role model, they strive to be a friend, philosopher, and guide to those around them. They are equipped with all modern and advanced skills necessary to help learners achieve their goals.
With a decade of experience in teaching mathematics, I have evolved and innovated teaching and learning techniques from classical to modern pedagogies. I have a good command over a myriad of classroom situations to cater to the dynamic needs of students for their overall development in the subject.
I am passionate about turning fear of mathematics into a love for the subject by inculcating a culture of trial and error, freedom of inquiry, and research using Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) and Problem-Based Learning (PBL) for Ordinary Level (OL) and Advanced Level (AL) learners.
What has worked for my successful teaching is a holistic approach to training mathematical skills, from basic numeracy to algebra to advanced mathematics, by mapping and connecting previous knowledge with the current and future curriculum to facilitate students' navigation and tracking of their mathematical roadmap.
I usually achieve this through proper diagnosis, gap analysis, and curriculum mapping, which allows me to differentiate and plan my lessons according to the needs of the students. My lesson plans are divided into many micro-lessons that end with formative assessments and feedback with positive reinforcement.
I ensure that my average handling time is minimal to keep all students engaged. Proper introduction, declaration of the topic with a catchy starter activity, and positive reinforcement are key elements of motivation that work effectively for me.
The main activity focuses on accomplishing the Learning Objective, usually defined by a focus question that keeps students on track. My lesson plans ensure that all students' energy is channeled into activities, which effectively reduces behavior issues, in addition to following defined classroom rules and regulations.
Getting to know students by name, related information, and history, as well as actively and responsibly engaging with parents, has been essential to my success. I take a personal interest in response to intervention programs to maximize individual attention span, helping students in need achieve on-level objectives.
A good sense of humor, supportive and caring nature, boost students' confidence and trust in learning mathematics. Regular piece-meal assessments keep students on par and avoid alienating summative assessments.
I am a versatile trained graduate with nearly 3 years of experience in teaching mathematics in the U.A.E., which has prepared me to perform on an international teaching platform and prove my value to the education sector. I am a good learner, flexible to adapt and evolve, and a valuable team member. I also enjoy participating in school editorials, cultural shows, debates, and declamations, and I am also interested in teaching physics.
