Experience:I have worked as a Science teacher (mostly (I)GCSE / A-Level / IBDP / American and Scottish Systems) and school leader for over 30 years. I have deep knowledge, enthusiasm and experience as a teacher and as a tutor, and I use all aspects of it to engage my students. I am able to explain complex ideas so you will understand, I make learning fun, and I will persevere with helping you to overcome obstacles and achieve your goals. I adjust my teaching style to suit your interests and inclinations. I expect commitment, and will give it to you fully in return.
Approach:I begin by assessing how I can best help you, by collecting information about what course(s) you are following, what your short- and long-term goals are, where you are now and how I can best help you advance. Understanding the material will be the key to being able to answer questions and to creating your own knowledge. Good scores in tests are a consequence of this and cannot reliably be achieved in any other way. All you need to bring is energy and a willingness to expand your knowledge.
