Experience:

I have tutored throughout my career in education. I am currently working as an English teacher in an IB school, where I am also the head of literacy and EAL. In EAL lessons I have a small group of students where they can access one to one help with their English speaking skills. I’ve taught the British and IB curriculums and have taught exam years since my first year of teaching. I have a BA in English literature and have taught lessons for a variety of different exam boards.

Approach:

I am a very personable teacher who likes to create a warm environment for my students. My lessons have a clear structure, a starter to encourage thinking straight away, teacher led content, student demonstration and reflection. I have many tools and scaffolding approaches to assist students who find the work challenging, and I can stretch students of high ability. In tutoring sessions, I can help students prepare for an exam, or plan a lesson around what the student thinks their weaknesses are.
