Admitted as a solicitor in 2007, Mercilla has practiced in the private and public sectors. Maintaining an interest in academia throughout her practicing career, she has taught Law as a University Lecturer at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Mercilla has lectured at BPP, Pearson College London and the University of Westminster. She has taught Contract Law, Land Law, Advocacy & Negotiation, Criminal Justice, Employment Law, EU Law, Property Law & Practice and Business Law & Practice.
