Qualification:BA Degree with Honours in History and majors in English and Geography
Experience:As a full-time teacher for more than 25 years, I have tutored students privately in English and Humanities from ages 7 up to 18. I particularly enjoy helping students who have some difficulties in their subject as a result of SEN or EAL needs. I have tutored English, Geography, History and Politics up to A-level. I focus on the students' comprehension skills and how to develop their exam technique under time pressures. I also emphasise vocabulary learning and directed reading tasks.
Approach:I use Google Classroom and its full Google Workspace tools. I was also the Leader of Google Educator Group Abu Dhabi where I assisted fellow educators. I use Seesaw and Nearpod for younger students to make lessons fun and interactive and various Google Workspace tools such as Slides and Docs for secondary students. Based on the needs of the students, lessons will be planned prior to going online. I expect my students to give me some idea of what the focus of the session should be.
