Experience:

I will offer support to your child by explaining topics and concepts in a relevant, age appropriate and accessible way. I will ensure that your child develops a sound understanding in areas of difficulty. Where appropriate, I would introduce your child that would enhance their current understanding of a topic. I think that as a tutor, it is also appropriate to introduce children due to sit exams to exam style questions so that they are familiar with the wordings and structures used within tests.

Approach:

My planning is relevant to learning and focuses on what a child needs to know right now. All of my planning is centred around skills from the relevant curriculum. I plan for the teaching of skills rather than activities. My lessons are well paced. I always begin by saying what we will learn and talk about the success criteria before giving children the opportunity to explore using the success criteria to attempt a task or question with support.
