Experience:

I enjoy working face to face but understand that with the current global situation that that might not always be possible. I am an Irish trained teacher working In the UAE for the last 3 years. Over the last 6 years have worked with children preparing them for their end of year tests, working on areas that may require improvement or simply coming over and helping with homework and phonics and reading.  I have four years experience teaching Kindergarten, Year/Grade 1, Year/Grade 2 and Year/Grade 3. I have tutored children from the ages of 4 up to the age of 14. I have my own car so can drive to my tutoring sessions. I have also spent the last two years working with other professionals on creating a handwriting strategy that can help children in KG, YR1 and up improve their handwriting. Approach:

I plan my lessons around the needs of the child and aim to provide them with a relaxed and patient working environment so that they can be comfortable as they work. Whatever it is needs to be improved or requires more practice, I speak with the child and parents and plan around what the class teacher had assigned or is doing in class. I have a gentle, patient approach and try to work with children in order for them to gain more confidence. I try to use reward systems in order to encourage the children to focus on their work and to get it done right. I can provide extra materials if required such as worksheets, concrete materials, manipulatives, etc.
