The Writing Center in the UAEU

Experience:

I worked as a peer tutor in the writing center in the UAEU. Throughout working there, I helped on a daily basis students in their different kinds of writing. The writings varied from outlines, to practice essays for the IELTS examination, and other types too. I was known as a very successful tutor, as I was able to fulfill what the real tutor should be doing during the tutoring session. This was most importantly helping the students recognize their mistakes and trying to learn from them.

Approach:

I plan my lessons based on the student's favorable and most helpful way of learning. Which suggests that the tutoring style is flexible. As well as being sensitive to the individual needs of the student, while being a good listener to his/her needs. Being flexible, patient, a good listener, informative without being intimidating, are the most important techniques in tutoring from my point of view.
