Experience:

A qualified Mathematics teacher with 10 years teaching experience in the United Kingdom. Having extensive experience of the UK Key Stage 2 and 3 Curriculum, 11 plus, GCSE, IGCSE and A-levels. Held leadership roles as coordinator for whole school Numeracy, STEM and Head of department for Mathematics. The results attained by his students over his teaching career have proven that his instruction has a positive impact on results. He looks forward to continuing this with his future students.

Approach:

Assessment is at the heart of a successful curriculum and is a fundamental aspect of good teaching and learning; with this, in mind, Mr Sanghera has creatively designed various assessment strategies which have enabled students to recognise their own achievement and make greater progress. Tracking learning throughout the lessons via focused internal assessments, end of topic tests and weekly numeracy worksheets. The scores are tracked by highlighting which tested areas students need to practise. From the data collected some of the short, medium and long-term intervention strategies put in place to improve results are: “Back to Basics” sessions for identified struggling students. Encourage pupils to attend their after-school maths/STEM club to engage in logic puzzles and Maths games. Introduce them to a bank of numeracy challenge booklets which are completed on a weekly basis. Review schemes of work that can be developed and enhanced to make them fit for purpose. In doing this Mr Sanghera has helped many students be successful in their final exams. He plans to deliver a similar standard of excellence with his future students.
