Experience:

Enthusiasm, dedication and being a personable teacher are some of the qualities I possess. Over the past six years, I have thrived in my role as a teacher at Treorchy Comprehensive School and would like to apply for the position of Computer Science teacher. I have developed as a teaching member of staff, form tutor and established myself in the cross-curricular role in the past four years as a Digital Learning Coordinator, I am also an apple and Google distinguished educator.

Approach:

I have successfully taken on the role as Digital Learning Coordinator which has enabled me to deliver whole School CPD sessions internally to staff and externally to the Central South Consortium, Secondary schools and Universities across the UK. The role has given me opportunities to work directly with Microsoft working on educational roadshows with them, teachers and future teachers of today’s society. I was selected for my excellence in teaching with technology to attend national events in Toronto and London where I have attended Keynotes and CPD sessions about the importance of technology and it’s advancements in education. Key points I learned was how to integrate technology in an exciting way to enable better Teaching and Learning within my classroom. I will also be delivering with representatives from Microsoft at this year’s BETT Conference. My experience has given me the ability to solve problems swiftly and independently and has allowed me to contribute to my own classroom teaching and share good practice with colleagues across the school and the UK. I was also internally selected to attend the Outstanding Teacher Programme where I progressed my own professional development to aid areas of excellent teaching within my lessons. I am also responsible for implementing the Digital Competency Framework into projects across the curriculum where I have led HOD’s in teaching and delivering ICT skills within their own subjects. During the past four years, I have gained leadership experience as a Digital Learning Coordinator and as a Learning and Teaching Coach for staff. This latter role requires me to raise the profile of Learning & Teaching through being proactive in supporting teachers to develop their professional practice and pedagogical understanding; part of my role is to spearhead a whole-school dialogue on learning and teaching, with the overall aim of nurturing a collaborative culture of peer-driven excellence and research into outstanding learning and teaching. So far the role is enabling me to work with colleagues to deliver whole school inset on the Digital Competency Framework, also work one to one with colleagues to support their classroom practice and share DCF strategies. Through this role and other duties within the school, I have built excellent relationships with the senior leadership team. These strong relationships allow for clear communication and ensure that my role works in unison with the whole school Teaching and Learning policy. I particularly enjoy this responsibility because it allows me to play a pivotal role in supporting a community of collaborative learning among staff. To be trusted and given such a responsibility is an honour and one that I approached with humility.
