Experience:

I am Shomope Ibrahim Owolabi, a Nigerian with unblemished public and private record. I finished from University of Lagos where I obtained Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering with minor in mathematics. My passion for teaching and impacting my skills to the younger generation was not random, it was a conviction that I have sustained for more than 15 years. I have taught pre-college student core science subjects (Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry). I have also done the same for year one and sophomore students at the University. This passion continues to grow and it has become habitual. It has become an avenue for me to impact students in helping shape their dreams and future through proffering mentorship that is rare.   My exceptional interpersonal skills have endeared me to a lot of students and this has not only helped in impacting my skills on them but it has yielded positive results. My ability to realize that students are unique has made me more patient at the varying response of the students. I am a very sensitive person both to the tangible and intangible reflexes that surrounds me which makes me respect the diversity of the different students that I teach with respect to race, religion and culture. These are fundamental differences that a teacher must be willing to acknowledge and respect in the lives of the students. These experiences have come in handy when I was teaching students of various high schools and universities in Abu Dhabi. I was able to appreciate the dynamics of culture and religion to apply in the teaching mechanism that I adopted. 

Approach:

Basically my style of teaching is a form of student-tutor interaction, I use practical examples to corroborate my detailed explanation, I do a run through of the topic, outline the main sub-topic, pick them one after the other, I elaborate and delve more on plethora give of examples to aid understanding, in my own opinion and years of hands-on experience, I am an advocate of solving so many examples, as this serves as an eye opener which assist my past students. As part of what I might need, once I have the scheme/syllabus then, perhaps a textbook on the subjects/topics for examples to be solved.   With this submit, I wish you can see me more beyond my experience, I am a very patient tutor with empathy and consideration to the fact that a student’s ability to succeed is not based only on the academics, but also on the ease at which the educator/tutor is able to allow the student come into the realm of learning. I have the emotional intelligent requirements that you are looking for beyond my qualification, I have the soft skills and I am also willing to adapt as my environment permits.
