Experience:

Throughout my seven-years teaching career I have gained extensive skills in training and management, alongside working directly with children within the early years. Through these roles I have seen the impact that my experience within teaching has had on my ability to assess and report on a range of issues. I have also undertaken regular academic study and professional training to ensure that I can offer feedback, allowing me to provide successful mentoring as well as assessment.

Approach:

I usually work around a major text, and think about what kinds of outcomes and tasks will suit that text (e.g., Animal Farm goes naturally with research on historical background, so I'll line it up with outcomes relating to research and writing, and Shakespeare goes naturally with outcomes relating to literary analysis and creative writing/representing, and so on). Certain outcomes are more important than others, so they'll get touched on more often. It's kind of a piecemeal process for me - I'll start with the big picture, then figure out how to get there, and then look again at the curriculum to see if I can squeeze a little more out of the unit plan and cover a few more outcomes.
