Experience:

I have taught in the UK for 4 years and in the UAE for 1 year. I have taught in FS2 (children aged 4 and 5), Year 2 (children aged 6 and 7) and Year 4 (children aged 8 and 9). I have some experience in all other primary and foundation year groups, but most experience in the above mentioned year groups. My greatest skills lie in phonics and teaching reading and writing. I also very much enjoy teaching Maths.

Approach:

I believe in creating a positive relationship with the children in my class which then allows for greater learning. I try and 'teach' as little as I can. I find that a child learns best through exploration, making mistakes, asking questions and with some guidance, finding the answers themselves. This allows for greater and deeper learning. I start by finding out what the child and their parents believes are his / her strengths or weaknesses. I then identify their gaps and create a scheme of work to help them make accelerated progress to close those gaps and address the misconceptions. My lessons are fun and engineered to be of interest to the child, based on their likes and interests.
