Experience:

I am truly passionate about literacy and mathematics in lower elementary area. I have dedicated my teaching career to identifying the best practices and the most effective ways to teach primary and kindergarten students. Therefore, I am very experienced, skilled and knowledgeable of both the reading and math. I chose to empower my students with rich literature and a recipe for success that I liked to call ROSE - Repetition, Opportunity, Skill, and Engagement.

Approach:

R.O.S.E • Repetition -I believe that children can improve in reading by have consistency - being able to have a set routine of how and when you read is vitally important both at home and in school. I have fallen in love with the Daily 5 and I have seen great results. • Opportunity, if are not given opportunities to read books on their level independently they will be unable to self correct or develop a true passion for reading. Students should be given multiple opportunities to read regardless of the subject. Integrating literacy in all subject areas is also a vital part of improving their reading ability. • Skills - phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency and comprehension must all be in play when students are learning the fundamentals of reading. • Engagement - Students should be aware of and provided with different genres of literature. Children of all ages can benefit from Readers Theatre, Reader's Workshops, response to reading, book reports, about books that interest them. Once their individual interests are peeked than the spark for reading has been ignited.
