Master of Arts in Educational Leadership K-12, Bachelor of Arts-Political Science, Speech Communications and English Language Arts

Experience:

As an educator for 20 years, fifteen in the classroom, five as an administrator, I have experience in the American, Advanced Placement (A.P) and International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculums, teaching in the areas of English Language Arts and Social Studies. I have successfully taught students from multiple learning backgrounds in the areas of English, American Literature, World Literature, World Geography, American Government, A.P. American Government, Pyschology, Sociology, and Global Studies.

Approach:

To begin with the desired end result in mind is the essential key to successful teaching and learning. By working toward making sure curriculum, instruction and assessment are in alignment, lesson plans would be structured by first diagnostically assessing the student to better surmise what they know and understand about a subject. From there the gradual release model of learning responsibility would be the structure in which various forms of differentiated instruction, contextual academic literacy enhancement from graphic organizers, annotating text to Socratic questioning would be consistently practiced to continuously assess student learning, based on a predetermined set of student learning objective and/or outcomes.
