Experience:

I am a UK-trained fully qualified teacher and have been teaching in Dubai since September 2016. I studied Music to Masters level at the University of Oxford before completing a PGCE in Secondary Music Education. I have extensive experience teaching and tutoring at both primary and secondary level, GCSE and A-Level, and Music Theory exams. In addition to my teaching, I am also a trained flautist and singer. I perform regularly with the Emirates Community Symphony Orchestra and the Dubai Wintet.

Approach:

My approach to tutoring is totally student-focused. In our first session, I will identify your child’s needs and areas for development, and ask them about their personal and academic goals. I will then plan and deliver my teaching according to their specific needs, and will monitor their progress closely from session-to-session. I like to use a variety of teaching strategies in order to help your child make maximum progress. These include practical musical activities, music technology, flipped learning, practice exam-style exercises, and modelled learning activities. If you are looking for support with your child’s GCSE, AS or A-Level exams, I will use my experience of teaching these qualifications to support your child with the work they are doing in school. This could involve help with homework or coursework assignments, revising a topic already studied in school, or pre-learning a topic that is yet to be studied. Above all, I want to make your child feel as confident as possible when they walk into their music lessons, whilst also ensuring they have as much fun with music as possible!
