Qualification:

BSc Hons Geography Degree/ PGDE Secondary Education

Experience:

I have a 2:1 Honours degree in Geography from the University of Glasgow and a PGDE Certificate in Secondary Education. I have five years experience teaching a range of academic abilities and children with special educational needs. I teach KS3 and KS4 Geography. In my current position, I have two Year 11 Edexcel B Geography classes and a Year 10 IGCSE Geography class. I also have experience tutoring primary age pupils in English.

Approach:

Initially, I establish what kind of learner the child is, either: visual, auditory, reading and writing or kinaesthetic in order to employ teaching strategies which meet their needs. I use a range of teaching strategies for every child including: ICT, past paper exam questions/ marking schemes, active and cooperative learning strategies but I adapt techniques to meet their learning needs and maximise learning and teaching time. I have a friendly and open personality which makes children feel at ease and able to ask questions or clarify points.
