Experience:

I have 30 years experience as a math teacher for grades 4 to 7. I challenge my student to be actively involved in their own learning. I teach using hands on activities, manipulatives and ICT. I have a teaching diploma with a SAQA accreditation for competency in assessment. I strive to help students belief in their ability to achieve in Math and that Math is fun. I use activities that encourage students to participate. I am a chess coach and use this to help students think strategically.

Approach:

My lesson plans include warm up activities, a session of instruction through appropriate media, activities based on the instruction, assessment for learning and consolidation. My lessons are designed to encourage students to take risk in a safe environment, to be confident in the work they produce and to learn from their mistakes. I let them also experience real life situations to demonstrate the need of Math is everyday situations.
