Experience:

I am an energetic and enthusiastic teacher from Ireland. I have been teaching for 10 years. Most of my experience during that time has been teaching children English as an Additional Language and ensuring they can access the curriculum at their own level. Learning should interesting and exciting to engage the children in the topic. I seek to help children to do their very best in school by developing the skills they need to succeed. For the past two years I have been in a leadership role of Student Achievement. The aim of my current work is to ensure all children can access the curriculum and to help close any gap that there may be between them and their peers.

Approach:

Each of my lessons are catered to the child's individual needs and interests. I first get to know the child and find out their likes/dislikes, motivations and fears. This information then informs my planning. By using personal interests during tutoring sessions, I can engage the student throughout by relating the topic to something which they enjoy. I seek to provide encouragement and support during these sessions while also challenging the student to better themselves and achieve more. My tutoring techniques explicit teaching, games, problem solving, ICT and other methods which I feel suit the child's learning.
