BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies & PGCE Early Years (3-7 years)

Experience:

I am a Primary school teacher, trained in the British curriculum. Initially studying Early Childhood Studies  has given me a solid understanding how to enrich a childs learning, I have been teaching for over five years, five years in Foundation Stage 2 and one in Year 2. I have also private tutored children from the ages two and a half to eleven years of age. During the time I have worked with children I have taught those who have a wide range of special educational needs plus those who speak English as a second language. I have had regular positive lesson feedback including being filmed and this used as examples of best practice.

Approach:

I believe in a teaching approach based on each individual childs needs, nurturing their talents to support and guide them through their own individual learning journey. From my theory based undergraduate degree and through classroom teaching I understand how important it is for learning to be hands on, relevant to real life and exciting, as this is truly when children learn best. All children can succeed and when these things are present there is no limit on how far children can go. Lessons provide achievable challenge through differentiation, inquiry and questioning and I can tutor in practical activities for phonics, maths as well as fine-motor activities and assisting in vocabulary extension. Parents play a key role in a childs learning and development and I can work with you to ensure you can support your child by understanding teaching approaches used in schools, what your child is learning and where we can both take them next. I am incredibly passionate about educating children and nothing gives me a greater sense of pride and satisfaction than when a child achieves their potential.
