Experience:

I am an enthusiastic and highly motivated primary school teacher from Ireland. I graduated from university in 2011 with a 1st class honours degree in education. I have 5 years experience teaching children between the ages of 3 and 11 all areas of the primary curriculum. I also have several years experience teaching on a 1:1 basis. I find this highly rewarding as it provides an opportunity for extended work with one child, something which is not always possible in a classroom setting.

Approach:

When approaching private tuition I believe it is of vital importance to develop an excellent rapport with the individual child and plan lessons according to their learning style. I would begin by trying to gauge the child�s strengths, weaknesses, interests and ability so that lessons could be differentiated and planned accordingly. I find that pitching a lesson at the correct level for each child is crucial, as being given work above their capabilities can prove to be very demoralizing and cause children to lose faith in their learning ability. On the other hand if a child is not being challenged sufficiently in their work they need to be pushed and encouraged so as to reach their full academic potential. I strive to make my lessons creative and interesting and to incorporate a range of teaching techniques so as to always maintain the children�s attention. I like to make lessons fun and enjoyable so will reinforce learning through songs, rhymes, games, and challenges.
