Experience:

I am proficient in the 3 official Belgian languages and able to teach the proper syntax for each (Dutch, French and German). I have served as interpreter to the UN in Bosnia, Serbia and Croatia and as interpreter to senior citizens visiting Germany. I have found from my experience being a private tutor that practical everyday scenarios and conversations bring best results in teaching languages and while I do use formal lessons plans, I like to “Take it to the street” every now and then.

Approach:

I develop individual lesson plans based on the needs of my students. The first meeting is usually the baseline assessment from which we (students and I) develop a lesson plan. I refer to formal texts books in preparing the lessons but personally prefer the more practical everyday situations that develop the sound use of language. My students have often said they find my methods most practical. This is because I draw from their experience in using their own language in metropolitan Dubai. From their experience we understand how they have learned their language and how this is similar to or different from the other language.
