Qualification:

Qualified Primary School Teacher; Postgraduate Diploma in Primary Education; Bachelor of Business Studies Honours Degree; Diploma in Exercise & Fitness.

Experience:

I have studied in both Ireland and England. My undergraduate studies include Accounting & Economics followed by an honours degree in Business Studies. In additional to this, I have completed numerous sports related courses. I qualified as a primary school teacher in 2009 after completing a postgraduate diploma in London, England.  I have taught in England, Ireland, Qatar and now in the UAE. I've amassed a wealth of experience across all age groups. My background in teaching has varied. I've taught in both mainstream and special school settings. I've worked closely with language development for children, adolescents and adults where English is their second language. For the past few years, during the summer months, I have been teaching Spanish university students business level English. I've also specialised in devising and implementing educational plans for the developmental needs of children with autism and complex needs. I've strong proficiency in English, Phonics, Maths, Science, Physical Education and Computers.

Approach:

My teaching style and techniques vary according to the individuals' needs. I try to keep my students engaged through hands on kinaesthetic teaching and learning. This helps to maintain focus and allows the student to obtain a sense of internal locus of control.  I've adapted some language programmes that I've collected over the years which I use in language development classes. These programmes are inclusive of oral language development which in turn, tie in with the progressional development of both reading and writing skills. Additionally, I have an arrange of assessment tools for Maths, Science, Reading and Writing. My lessons are always target focused with strong emphasis on developmental learning.
