B.F.A in Fibers and Fabric Design with Teaching Certification in Art Education (K-12). M.A. in Education with Emphasis in Special Populations.

Experience:

I am a fully qualified and experienced Art Teacher as well as two years as a primary Teacher. I have 4 years of experience in teaching Art Education with a diverse interdisciplinary curriculum to students in grades K-8.

Approach:

My teaching philosophy pertains to a constructivist approach in which students derive meaning from their learning through hands on experience. I provide students with the initial foundation for an art lesson, but the students are then encouraged to be involved in independent critical thinking skills. Students within my classroom, take ownership of their learning, and try to apply it to a larger context, or the world around them. My attitude in interacting with students consists of embracing the individual strengths and weaknesses of each individual person, as a platform to build learning opportunities.
