Experience:

When it comes to teaching and learning, I've done it all! I have worked for years in the classroom with students from pre-K to grade 8 all over the world, developed hundreds of hours of national training programs for primary and preparatory teachers in the US and GCC, and written engaging and meaningful curriculum used by over a million students across India.  In all, I have almost 20 years of experience helping teachers and children around the world get excited about math, science, English, and more! I have a Master's Degree from Harvard Graduate School of Education and have worked with Common Core, CBSE, IGCSE, and I'm eager to work with other frameworks.

Approach:

I start by learning more about the child I am working with, understanding their struggles and achievements and how they feel about both.  This helps me find a variety of techniques to keep things effective (and interesting!). Depending on a student's needs and preferred learning approaches, I might begin a new topic with an experiential lesson which helps link 'the big idea' of the concept to the outside world and its relevance within it. With my guidance, students practice with the new idea to promote fluency and problem solving.   This helps them learn to deconstruct the new concept and reuse in a new way. I often like to include games which encourage ongoing practice.
