IGSCE/A level - Four year French course

Experience:

I have 1 year experience. I taught 2 Grade 4 students in French last summer, 3 children (different ages) Maths tutoring this year and one child in English simultaneously. I prefer children from KG to Grade 6. I am patient with children and can understand when the children have serious difficulty in doing their work. I teach in a quiet environment at my house. If any arrangement needs to be done for another place, it can be discussed.

Approach:

Each person learns differently, what works for someone may not work for others. As a tutor, I have the advantage over instructors of being able to individualize your child's style of learning. My planning is as follows: Get a copy of my First Sessions Checklist Review my copy of the student's syllabus Plan an agenda for my session. Techniques: Maths - Use color coding Do flow-charting Diagramming Words don't always say enough Use flashcards Use graph paper instead of lined-paper (trust me it makes a very big and clear difference) Let students touch and handle instructional materials Use stimulation Do hands-on activities Supplement materials with art notebooks, coloring books. French and English: Highlight important information Discuss vocabulary before reading Use highlighter to identify key words or phrases Have students read/sign aloud to me Jot notes in text Discuss review questions Openly discuss material on hand Use sketches, maps, flow charts, and my favorite. Teach students SQ3R (Survey, question, read, review, recite). As a student myself I understand that students need their time and space there is no need to rush, the child will and must understand the concept of what he/she is doing and will pass that exam with flying colors.
