Experience:

I have 8 years experience. 5 years as a DP Mathematic teacher in SL and Studies. I am currently working as second head of department and DP Mathematics teacher.  I tutor from my home or near by areas only.  As a teacher, my objective is to create a diverse learning environment, where every student feels comfortable to reach his or her fullest potential. In order to reach these objectives, I aim to create a close rapport with students and develop a pupil-teacher relationship which is based on mutual respect and trust. As a teacher, I want to practise teaching methods such as guided discovery and problem solving to ensure indoctrination does not occur and that students are individually challenged.

Approach:

One of the major action steps I will take in order to promote active learning involves the introduction of suitable learning activities and tasks which will help students to develop positive attitudes about the subject and themselves as learners. Not only does this make sense in terms of effective learning, but is extremely important in fostering pupils’ self-esteem regarding themselves as learners and helping them to develop and practice those skills, both practical and intellectual.
