Experience:

I have been a professional musician for 20 years, playing guitar, percussion, drumming. I also run family drum circles using djembe drums in the Middle East, UK and U.S.A. I have been teaching private sessions in drum and percussion for many years as well as worked as a Music Specialist in international schools in Dubai. I have delivered drum sessions for the Autistic Society Dubai as well as Down Syndrome children and a range of other special needs.

Approach:

Drumming is a powerful tool for developing the inner musical ear of all learners, bringing alive the rhythmic nature of all human beings. It teaches us self discipline, releases the well being chemicals of endorphins into the body, raising self esteem and improving our ability to listen with accuracy. It is a great instrument in itself, but also lends itself easily into the learning of other instruments. If you cannot internalise rhythm, and move with rhythm, you will not be able to play a piano for example with rhythm. Therefore, drumming can be taught in its own right or as a way to remove any rhythmic stumbling blocks in the growing young musician.
