Experience:

I'm a qualified SENCO, teacher, facilitator, tutor, writer, motivational speaker, international public speaker and presenter with 27 years experience in teaching mainstream, remedial and gifted students in South Africa and UAE.

Approach:

My approach in tutoring is the one-to-one relationship between the student and me as tutor. With only one person to focus on, Ican try a variety ofteaching techniquesin order to work out the most effective way of helping the student understand a topic. I use some of the followingteaching strategies: Keeping it real: One of the most valuable lessons I share with mystudents is a passion for learning.Fostering independence: My ultimate aim isto teach my students to become independent learners.Use of Multi-Media Tools:I use educational software that I created,interesting video presentations, songs or works of literature that cover the theme I’m teaching. Introducing humour and fun into the tutoring session: Humourcan have highly positive effects on students, greatly increasing their level of engagement and interest.
