Experience:

I have twenty years of teaching experience in schools in London, UK and Dubai as a class teacher and a music specialist. I have been Head of English and Music throughout my career. I have provided personal tuition to children in their own home here in Dubai for four years, from ages 3 to 16, including preparing children for entry into Uk boarding schools using the Common Entrance Exam 11+.

Approach:

I am a female mature British teacher with a warm, friendly approach. I am child centered,taking into account different learning styles of children. For early readers, I combine Read Write Inc Phonics scheme with my own teaching style to ensure rapid progress. For the older child, I use an emotional literacy approach to activate a life long love of Literature. I am an experienced Common Entrance Exam 11+ tutor for the Writing and Comprehension papers. I can prepare children for ABRSM Vocal and Piano exams and I use inspirations from Edwin Gordon Music Learning Theory which has ear training as its foundation. Singing lessons can be taught to the youngest child for general musicianship skill building in preparation for learning an instrument later.
