Experience:I am a Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics and Physics, and A Level Mathematics teacher since 2009 in Singapore, Indonesia and Dubai. As a teacher, I was a head of department for Mathematics for 6th form. As a tutor, I have been Tutoring students from grades 7- 12; Mathematics, Science and Physics since 2001 (I started tutoring since I was in high school), tutoring students taking IB, IGCSE, GCSE, and GCE from schools like Jumeirah college, Dubai college, English college, Dubai American Academy, Emirates International, GEMS Wellington, Dubai International Academy, and many many more in my 10 years of full time tutoring here in Dubai.
Approach:I'm all about that BASE-ics! Most of the time, I find that student issues come from the basics. From a student just struggling to pass or a student clawing for that 9 or A*. The gaps tend to be either the basics themselves, or a string of connected misconceptions and gaps that link back to the basics. For the most part, I will try to find common ground with the student and use their interests as examples and analogies to help explain the basics. Once the basics are solid, then the conceptual learning and application becomes much much easier.
