Who should attend?

Supervisors and managers of pool facilities; staff who are responsible for water testing and day to day cleaning of swimming pool, even if external companies operate the pool plant it is advisable that pool staff are trained to conduct regular checks for pool hygiene.

What will they learn?

Students will gain the skills and knowledge required to manage a pool treatment plant. They will learn basic principles of water quality maintenance, how to carry out necessary hygiene tests, monitoring and sensory inspections. They will also be taught how to identify problems with pool water and to assess the probable cause.

Course Details

Who should attend?

Hotels, companies or individuals who require a basic First Aid qualification approved by the Dubai Corporation of Ambulance Services (DCAS). This course teaches basic First Aid skills for the work place and how to deal with life-threatening conditions. It is suitable for any student, even without prior knowledge.

What will they learn?

The course will familiarize students with their roles and responsibilities of the Emergency First Response, including assessing an incident, recognizing signs and symptoms of injury and illness, and assisting a casualty who is suffering from injury and illness.

The Role and Responsibilities of an Emergency First Responder, Scene Survey, Managing an Unresponsive Casualty, CPR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, Choking, Shock, Heart Attack/Cardiac Arrest, Bleeding (severe, embedded object, from orifices), Treatment of Seizures, Use of Automated External Defibrillator.

Who should attend?

Anyone who works or wants to work as a professional lifeguard in a swimming pool.

What will they learn?

This qualification is designed for those learners wishing to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to become a qualified pool lifeguard. It covers the preparation, health and safety of a swimming pool environment, and how to respond to pool emergencies and emergency situations in the swimming pool.

Course includes

Diverse rescue skills, Towing techniques, Casualty recognition, use of rescue equipment, Accident prevention and pool safety, Observation and supervision, Systems of work and communication, Spinal Cord injury management, First Aid and CPR, Use of pocket mask, Legislation and Standard Operating – Procedures.

Course duration

5 days in total, 4 days training 1-day assessment.

100% attendance is required.

Assessment

Candidates should pass the continuous assessment throughout the course by the trainer to be eligible for the end-of-course assessment. The end-of-course assessment will be an external independent assessment sampling element across the whole syllabus.

Certificate and Validity

Internationally recognized Pool Lifeguard qualification from DRASSA Academy Awarding Body for Compliance, valid for 2 years.

Entry requirement

Basic English skills and must be a minimum of 16 years of age, able to Jump or dive into the pool in deep water, Swim 50 meters in 1 minute or less, Surface dive to the deepest part of the pool, Tread water in deep water for 30 seconds, Swim 100 meters continuously on front and then back, climb out of the pool unaided, without using steps or a ladder
