  7. ALERT ACTIVITIES The kit is introduced with familiarisation of the flashcards. Ways to do this includes: Drills Matching Guessing games ( I am thinking of a word that begins with sounds like.... etc)
  8. WORD LIST Each kit has a word list that is sent home to parents to inform them of the words that the child will be working on over the next ten weeks be less or more depending on the students).
  9. D WORD TEMPLATE The word template is used after the flashcard work to check the child's word knowledge. Success is monitored weekly and as the child is familiar with a word that shape in the template is coloured. This provides an immediate visual record of success.
  10. D Cut & Paste Book Sentence Booklet Both have sentences in the same order. It is not compulsory to do both books. It depends on the child's proficiency. Some children benefit using both forms of the sentence books, while others need only one sentence book for success.
  11. D The Cut & Paste Book The cut and paste book has the correct sentence at the top of the page to model the pasting of the jumbled sentence at the base of the page. There is room for a picture to match the text and if the child is proficient the sentence can be copied under the pasted model.
  12. Flashcards Flashcards of the words can be used to help model the sentence as well on the child's desk before the shapes are cut and pasted. boat rocket television airplane moon bananas
  13. Sentence Booklet The Sentence Booklet has the correct sentence at the top of the page for copying. This booklet can also be used as a home reader. The sentence can be copied more than once and there is space for a picture to match the text. The pictures show understanding of the text and the detail of the pictures can show how the child is developing with attention to detail.
  14. 0 BINGO & FLASHCARDS Bingo needs nine counters per player which are placed over the word on the board to match the shown flashcard. Flashcards are verbalised by the children if they are familiar with the words and by the teacher if they are unable to respond. The winner is the first to have all counters placed on the board. Success is not dependent on knowing the words, matching the shape of the word or the number of letters in the word is a skill of pre- reading.
  15. DOMINOES he Dominoes are distributed and one is placed on the desk. Players take turns to try and match the same word at either end of the card. The child is encouraged to verbalise what two words are needed each play of the cards. If they are unable to verbalise then the teacher provides the correct words.
