The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is the special test designed for testing the ability and skill of a candidate about using English in an academic setting. The test is conducted and organized by the ETS (Education Testing Service) for all the eligible applicants participating in the concerned exam. The exam is available in basically two modes for all the applicants namely, TOEFL IBT (Internet Based Test) and TOEFL PBT (Paper Based Test) respectively. The TOEFL Exam provides eligibility to work in the following sectors- Government Agencies, Business, Licensing Bodies or Scholarship Programmes in India and foreign countries including US (United States), France, Germany, Canada and Italy respectively. Those applicants who are preparing for the concerned entrance exam may go through the complete details of the paper pattern and question paper marking scheme from here below. Name of Exam: TOEFL IBT (Internet Based Test) Conducting Authority: Educational Testing Service Examination Scheme/ Paper Pattern: The TOEFL Internet Based Test is a 4 hours exam conducted for the following main sections: 1. Reading: This section comprises of 3-5 passages of approx. 700 words having about 36-70 questions in total on them. The total time allotted to solve this section of this paper is 60-100 minutes. The section on Reading Comprehension and Vocabulary is based on judging the reading and vocabulary skills of the candidates. 2. Listening: This section of the exam shall consist of 4-6 lectures and 2-3 conversations with 34-51 questions in total on it. The candidates will be given 6 questions per lecture and 5 questions per conversations to be solved in 60-90 minutes by all the applicants. The section basically judges the listening capabilities of the candidates. 3. Speaking: Under this section of the exam, a total of 6 tasks will be assigned to the test takers which include the following: 2 questions on expressing the opinions and 4 questions on what one has to read / listen to for qualifying in this section of the exam. The total time allotted to this section of the exam is only 20 minutes. 4. Writing: This paper shall consist of a total of two tasks which includes one question on- Writing what one has to listen to and one question on giving opinion on something as per the topics assigned to the test takers on the spot. The total time allotted to this section of the exam is 50 minutes only.

GMAT

The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is a computer adaptive test conducted round the year at test centers throughout the world. The GMAT exam measures verbal, mathematical, reasoning and analytical writing skills. The test is designed to help graduate management programs assess the qualifications of applicants for advanced study in business and management. 

The Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) is needed for admission to an MBA programme or a business-related field such as finance. More than 5,200 programmes offered by more than 1,900 institutions all over the world use the GMAT as part of the selection criteria for their programmes.

GMAT was originally a paper-and-pencil test, it is now a computer-adaptive test (CAT), where examinees sit at a computer in a testing center. The computer-adaptive test format means that the difficulty of the questions faced are based upon the test performance. From June 2012, integrated reasoning section was added to the GMAT.

The GMAT exam consists of four separately timed sections:

Quantitative Section

The GMAT Quantitative section measures the ability to reason quantitatively, solve quantitative problems, and interpret graphic data. Two types of multiple-choice questions are used in the Quantitative section:

Problem solving and data sufficiency questions are intermingled throughout the Quantitative section. Both types of questions require basic knowledge of:

Verbal Section The GMAT Verbal section measures the ability to read and comprehend written material, to reason and evaluate arguments, and to correct written material to conform to standard written English. Because the Verbal section includes reading sections from several different content areas, you may be generally familiar with some of the material; however, neither the reading passages nor the questions assume detailed knowledge of the topics discussed. Three types of multiple-choice questions are used in the Verbal section:

Integrated Reasoning Section The Integrated Reasoning section measures your ability to understand and evaluate multiple sources and types of information - graphic, numeric, and verbal. You have access to an online calculator with basic functions for the Integrated Reasoning section, but the calculator is not available on the Quantitative section.
