OET (Occupational English Language Test) is an international English Language Test That assess the language proficiency of healthcare professionals seeking to register and practice in an English-Speaking Environment.

It provides a validated, reliable assessment of all four language skills – Listening, Reading, writing, and Speaking – with the emphasis on communication in healthcare professional settings.

The Listening and Reading sub tests are designed to assess the ability to understand spoken and written English in contexts related to general health and medicine. The sub-tests for listening and reading are same in all professions.

Content

Candidates can:

Listening (45 minutes)

3 Tasks

Follow and understand a range of health-related spoken materials such as patient consultation and lectures.

Reading (60 minutes)

3 Tasks

Read and understand different types of text on health-related subjects.

Writing (45 minutes)

1 Task

Write a letter in a clear and accurate way which is relevant for the reader.

Speaking (20 minutes)

2 Tasks

Effectively communicate in a real-life context through the use of role plays.
