What kind of projects will I complete during the course?

As kind of the course work, you will complete 4 industry based projects covering various project management concepts.

Project-1: Performance Enhancement Project to understand Scope Management

Task: The client has requested for an improvement in the existing system performance. The project has a well-defined scope, with clear deliverables, budgets, and timelines. The domains covered will be IN, PL, EX, M&C, and CL. As the owner of the project, you will have to lead the project by looking into the processes and the flow of activities right from initiating a project to the closing of a project.

Role: To execute this project, you will be working on defining the Scope of Work, Business Case, Project Charter, Stakeholder Register, Scope Management and Scope Baseline, Project Execution and Project Closing. This project will help you work on the processes and the flow of activities right from execution till delivery.

Project-2: Project to understand Time and Cost Management

Task: You are working as a Project Manager with the software development company. The company requires details of a particular project for which you will have to categorize the project into different phases and estimate the duration and budgeted cost of the project. The domains covered will be PL and M&C.

Role: Through this project, you will learn to monitor and control the progress of a project using project management tools like WBS, Critical Path, Estimated Float and Earned Value Management.

Project-3: Project Selection based on Risk assessment

Task: An automobile company wants to upgrade its cars and one of the requirements is to have special electronic auto parts.  As the Project Manager, you would like to analyse the need to outsource the product and offer relevant suggestions to the company. The domains covered will be PL, EX, M&C, and CL.

Role: You will analyse the product using “Decision Tree Analysis “and decide the model to be in-house production or an outsource model. For the outsourced model, you will also work on supporting documents and reports for the execution and also learn how to address any deviation in the plan with the help of tools and techniques of procurement management.

Project-4: Project Selection based on Risk assessment

Task: A software company is developing an application for telecom billing. You are designated the Project Manager for this project. As a part of planning, you will look into the quality- related aspects to ensure that the product meets expectations. The domains covered will be PL, EX, M&C and CL.

Role: You will understand quality management plans and tools which will include quality and process improvement plans, quality metrics, and quality checklists to ensure the product meets the expected quality.
