BTEC HND- a great alternative to University
If you would like to continue into higher education but are not sure if university is right for you, then a BTEC HND could be a great alternative.
These courses give students the flexibility to maintain a job or family whilst gaining a fully accredited higher education qualification.
What will I learn?
At Excellist Learning Centre we offer different subjects at BTEC HND level Business Studies, and Education and Training
These 2 year courses are broken down into 16 units of work each requiring around 60 hours of study time. A coursework assignment is completed at the end of each unit which is to be submitted to your tutor for marking. The coursework marks will go toward forming your final grade.
How does a BTEC HND course work?
You will have a maximum of 2 years to complete your studies. You will have classes twice a week and research days on the other days.
All tutors are qualified in the subject and are educated to at least Masters Level.
What costs are involved?
The financial benefits of taking this type of course are vast. As a BTEC HND student you will save money on traveling to UK and also avail the opportunity to study at your own pace, not to mention lower academic fees.
How do I know if a BTEC HND is right for me?
BTEC Higher National qualifications are accredited on the QCF for learners aged 18 and over.
If you have previously studied at Level 3 (A Levels, Level 3 Diploma, NVQ3 or BTEC Level 3) then you will be eligible to start the course at any time.
Or if you have a GCE level profile that demonstrates strong performance in a relevant subject or an adequate performance in more than one GCE subject. This profile is likely to be supported by GCSE grade at A* to C.
Or if you even have any related work experience.
If you wish to continue into higher education without the costs and geographical restrictions of going to university, then the BTEC HND would be ideal for you.
You will also need to be organised with your time and committed to the level of study required at Level 5.
What can I do with my BTEC HND?
A BTEC HND is a Level 5 Higher National Diploma and our BTEC HNDs are accredited by the international exam board Edexcel.
The course is the equivalent of a Foundation degree i.e. the first 2 years of university.
We can provide you with a list of associations and organisations that recognise the BTEC HND as well as a list of universities that will accept students into the third year of a full honours degree course.
Having this qualification will enhance your career prospects, allow you to work as a practitioner in certain fields or enable you to enter onto an honours degree in the third year.
How do I enrol? You can enrol with us at any time online, over the telephone or visit our centre. There are no start dates or deadlines to join the BTEC HND courses as we take enrolments all year round. So sign up today and take the leap into higher education without having to travel long distances.
