Course Details

This workshop is designed to help schools understand why parental contact is so important and how systems can assess the quality and effectiveness of current practice. We will conduct a parent information session lasting between 1 – 1 ½ hours following the workshop where we will explain to parents the importance of on-going communication with the school and how to ensure they use opportunities provided to maximise their child’s enjoyment and achievement.

In the training the participants will :

• Understand why parents are partners when educating a child
• Learn about the power of community and networks
• Recognize how to identify different types of parents from the permissive to the authoritarian
• Examine examples of planned home – school interaction
• Devise strategies for improving the quality of their own school’s interaction with parents
