Social Science is the branch of science which deals with Law, Economics, Geography, Politics, History, Linguistics, Archaeology, Anthropology, Sociology, and Psychology. It is the study of the society and the behavior pattern of the people residing in the society. The European Science foundation defines Social Science as the subject that observes and describes human beings by reading human minds.

The need for Social Science:

Thoughtful intelligence, rational thinking, and investigative skills are required to read human minds and the study of Law needs these three qualities. It is important to know the law of the country where one resides. Chaos will occur if one does not know about courts and the legal systems of the country.

An enhanced understanding of society by learning economics helps the application of the law. Identifying scarce resources and distributing them among people of society increase efficacy. The knowledge of economics helps society to trace, review, anticipate, and foresee human behavior.

By studying Geography one understands how it has played an important role in the evolution of men, their thoughts, habitat, and surroundings. Learning physical geography is essential to gather knowledge about the allocation of natural resources and how the resources affect the settlement of humans in different parts of this world.

The study of politics makes one aware of the happenings around him or her. The decisions made in politics make a vast impact on people’s lives. One understands the government and become aware of the activities that are associated with the people of a country.

To understand the world we live in is the basic reason to study history. History talks about the past and by knowing the past we tend to make the right decision for the future. It also teaches us about the society we live in and how evolution took place.

Linguistics is the study of languages and every language is unique, has its ways of communication through words, sentences, phrases, and expressions. Our first language is our mother tongue and as we learn multiple languages we get to learn the phonology, phonetics, syntax, morphology, pragmatics, and semantics of that language. By learning linguistics, we improve our communication abilities which trigger critical thinking and analytical competence.

Archaeology is a stand-alone subject that attracts students who are interested to learn how human behavior has changed over time and the two pillars that help archaeology to expand are history and heritage of varied cultures. Discovered artifacts and relics help us to find out about how civilization was during a specific time and place.

Anthropology is the study of humanity in all aspects. It gives a clear idea about the social, political, and economic importance of any society that explores deep-thinking hitches about the character of common life in society.

How a person’s action and consciousness can influence the cultural and social surroundings of that person is the study of Sociology. Sociology makes one determine the social forces around him or her and understand the forces that influence one’s life. Once the local behavior is established, sociology can expand to the national and global span.

Psychology is the way people behave. It describes one's behavioral outcome, mind’s functioning, and psychological actions. Psychology helps to understand someone’s mental development, personality growth, and how humanity and society can influence his or her behavior, by expanding a silent intelligence to the many stimuli that have impacted his or her life. It is the only social science that is based on the scientific method and statistics. The study of psychology is fruitful to predict future actions of a person.

The need for Social Science tutors:

Social science is the branch of science which deals with the humane nature of mankind and the students who wish to study this subject require social science tutors as they build self-confidence, encourage inquiring to expand the space of interest, inspire conceptual perception, and finally offers positive defiance to the students.

  • Understanding oneself: A social science tutor makes students understand their personalities and perceptions through their behavior. This makes an impact on the workplace for individual projects and group projects too. When a person recognizes his or her psychology or behavior any assignment becomes relaxed and prosperous.

  • Understanding others: Working in a team or with other people, one comes across a lot of hindrances. To encounter management hassles, encourage teamwork, and build a leadership quality, it becomes necessary and for that one has to understand others around him or her. A social science teacher with his or her vast knowledge of psychology helps in guiding students to achieve a better workplace atmosphere and finally which is highly appreciated.

  • To know Psychological and Scientific Principles: A tutor’s understanding of research procedures and the ability to deduce statistical outcomes help students attain success in their social science careers. The psychological and scientific principles of sociology make one understand any behavioral pattern of society that help in determining the future trend of it.

  • Communication skills: Communication is very important in the field of social science as it is through communication one understands the trait of society. But communication has many techniques, it is the role of a social science tutor to guide a social science student to understand and decide which method of communication to be applied for a specific purpose. Communication can be one to one, one to many, many to one or many to many. Choosing the correct mode of communication is important as it varies if one shapes an argument, talks over a topic, or makes a judgment.

  • Research skills: In any workplace, be it an office, school, or library the ability to research a topic is necessary as research helps in gathering sound knowledge about any subject and helps one to decide for any conclusion. But the word ‘research’ is wide enough and students are sometimes misguided by their minds on the line of research. A tutor’s guideline helps them to choose the correct path.

  • Brainstorming and critical thinking: Critical thinking is also a part of psychological practice and brainstorming needs a group of people. A social science teacher directs one to the correct path to think critically and leads on which topic to brainstorm.

All the subjects that encompass the study of social science are ever-changing. New methodologies and strategies are invented every day. Law, Economics, Geography, History, Linguistics, and Archaeology also change but at a slower pace. The study of Anthropology, Sociology, and Psychology are comparatively more expeditious. A social science teacher is aware of these changes. He or she is the perfect mentor for students studying social science to achieve excellence more readily.
