One of the main purposes of education is to find a good job that pays decent salary after the completion of the course. Barring a few, many students spend a lot of money on their education and pursue their course by making educational loans.

Their main objective after the completion of the course is to find a job that can help them to settle their debts and enable them earning their livelihood.

Some subjects are very interesting to study but they do not have much scope in the job market. Such subjects are studied purely for knowledge sake as they can offer little in term of employability and career.

Here students are in a dilemma whether to choose the subjects that they love or select the subjects that can help them bag a job and earn money.

Some of the subjects those are quite interesting but do not have much scope in the job market are listed below.

Philosophy

The study of fundamental and general problems pertaining to matters such as mind, reason, values, knowledge, existence, language, and meaning of life is known as philosophy. Philosophy deals with eclectic mix of ideas such as truth, knowledge, religion, the nature, and the purpose of life. Albeit an interesting subject, philosophy offers less in terms of career prospects. The main objective of the course is not to provide the students with lucrative job opportunities but to provide them with a sound knowledge about society, the world, and the universe. Therefore, unemployment rate for philosophy graduates is considerably higher when compared with graduates belonging to other streams.

Anthropology

The study of the different facets of human cultures and societies is known as anthropology. Anthropology as a subject deals with the studies of the languages, cultures, societies, and civilizations of the entire human race. It is a subject that studies the biological characteristics, origins, beliefs, social customs, languages, and cultural development of various societies. Although anthropology is an interesting subject to study, it has a very limited scope in the job market. Students choosing anthropology as a subject will be restricted to work in the field of education, archeology, social science, language and literature, etc.

Political science

The study and analysis of political behavior, political thoughts, political activities, and government systems is known as political science. Political science deals with the theoretical and practical aspects of politics and systems of government at the regional, national, and global levels. However, the unemployment rate for political science graduates is high. Having a political science degree does not only mean that a student will become a politician or will work for government agencies. There are fewer career opportunities for political science graduates compared to graduates in other streams.

Fine Arts and design

Aspiring artists, animators, sketch artists, painters, designers, illustrators, and cartoonists are drawn to fine arts design courses. However, the unemployment rate of design and fine arts graduates were found to be high in 2015 with 7.5% of the graduates were unable find work even after graduating over a period of six months.

Civics

Civics deals with the theory and practice of citizenship, the rights of the citizens, the duties of the citizens, the political entity and the government. The subject focuses on the ethical or political tradition followed by citizens of a particular country. Although it is one of the earliest subjects and is quite interesting to learn, it does not offers great job prospects to all graduates.

Even as we have discussed some subjects that are interesting to study but do not have much scope in the job market, they promise of a great future who study these subjects seriously and are bold enough to do something on their own.
