A majority of children all around the world grow up listening to fairy tales and magical stories and they develop a strong interest towards magic in their early years of life.

Even as they grow up in this science driven era with breakthrough innovations and technology advancements taking place in an unprecedented scale, they still have a soft corner for magic somewhere in their hearts.

Despite getting modern education, which is more about logic and proven theories, they view magic as an escape from their mundane routine.

For many children, their love for magic is reinforced when they come across the exemplary works of some bestselling authors such as J. K. Rowling, Paulo Coelho, Juliet Marillier, C.S. Lewis, George R.R. Martin, Patrick Rothfuss, to name a just few.

The mystery and esotericism shrouding the realms of magic also make it even more alluring for children.

Growing up listening to magical stories and fairy tales, children often relate to the stories in a very profound way and they end up empathizing with the characters in the tales. Inquisitive children are mainly drawn to magic to derive the logic and science from the outlandish acts performed by a magician.

7. Effect of peers

Sometimes a child’s interest towards magic can also be passive as they get are influenced by their peers or peer groups. A child may not be naturally interested with magic but later is drawn towards it due to effect of his/her friends. If a group of children are enthusiastic about magic, a single child who is indifferent towards it may feign interest just to gain their approval. Later, the child’s fake enthusiasm towards magic becomes real and he/she enjoys magic just like any other average children.

Before the proliferation of gadgets and hundreds of entertainment channels, children used to enjoy themselves by watching magic shows and live magic performances. Despite all the technological advancements of present, the interest for magic remains the same for children.
