I am a qualified primary teacher from London, who has 4 years experience teaching upper primary. I have previously led English across the whole school and therefore have a good understanding of English in the British Curriculum.

Tutoring Approach

The first thing I would want to do is gain an understanding of where the child is at. I would give a few simple questions to see if the child is able to answer and from this I would draw up plans to find topics they are unsure of. I would cover the basics of Maths and English first, if it is needed and then build upon it. The most important thing is that the child feels confident in answering all types of questions and this would be a focus of the lessons.
